Common questions

Permissions, AI limits, safety, purchases, privacy, and account management.

Essential information

Which permissions does The Fur Finder request?+
Location supports map pins and nearby alerts; camera and photo access support pet reports and optional biometric pet images; notifications support report and match alerts. You can deny or later change permissions in device settings, although related features may not work.
Are AI matches guaranteed?+
No. AI results are suggestions based on available images and report details. Always verify ownership, markings, records, and microchip information before handing over a pet.
How do I report or block someone?+
Use the report or block controls on the relevant profile, message, comment, Quick Snap, or report. For urgent safety issues, contact local emergency services first and then email support@thefurfinder.com.
How do subscriptions and cancellations work?+
Subscriptions renew unless cancelled through the store account used to purchase them. Deleting your Fur Finder account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription.
How do I restore a purchase?+
Sign in with the same store account used for the purchase, then use Restore Purchases in the app. If access is not restored, contact support with the platform and purchase date, but do not send full payment-card details.
What are credits?+
Credits are limited, in-service units for eligible features. They are not money, cannot be redeemed for cash, and may be subject to expiry or promotional terms disclosed when issued.
How is my information used?+
Information is used to operate reports, matching, alerts, messaging, purchases, safety, analytics, and advertising where applicable. See the Privacy Policy for the full list of data categories, sharing, retention, and your rights.
How do I delete my account?+
In the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. You can also request deletion by emailing support@thefurfinder.com from your account email. Store subscriptions must be cancelled separately.

General

How long do lost pets typically stay missing?+
Studies show that most lost pets are found within 30 days. However, the first 24-48 hours are critical. Immediate action through social media, local shelters, and community networks significantly increases reunion chances.
How does FurFinder help find lost pets?+
FurFinder uses community power, location-based alerts, and a network of shelters to help reunite lost pets with their owners. Post your lost pet's details with photos and location, and we'll notify people in your area and help coordinate the search.

Missing Pets

What should I do immediately after my pet goes missing?+
First, search your immediate neighborhood thoroughly. Then contact local animal shelters, vets, and post on FurFinder and social media immediately. Create flyers, check lost pet databases, and notify friends and neighbors. Time is critical in the first 24 hours.
What if my pet has been missing for months?+
Don't lose hope. Pets have been found months or even years after going missing. Continue checking shelters, post on social media periodically, and register your pet as lost in local databases. Keep your contact information updated with shelters.

Pet Care

Is microchipping painful for my pet?+
Microchipping is a quick procedure similar to a vaccination. It takes just a few seconds and causes minimal discomfort. The microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and is implanted under the skin, typically between the shoulder blades.
